'Under the Tuscan Sun' on Aug. 13 at Ste. Chapelle Winery
St. Vincent de Paul Southwest Idaho’s annual gala, Summerfest, returns this year after the pandemic forced the cancellation of last year’s event.
“An Evening Under the Tuscan Sun,” is the theme for this year’s event on Friday, Aug. 13, at the Ste. Chapelle Winery, 19348 Lowell Road in Caldwell.
Sponsored by Team Subaru, the event will include a night of sampling locally grown wine, a silent auction, dining and live music from “Frim Fram 4.”
Proceeds from the event go to support the mission of St. Vincent de Paul to prevent homelessness in southwest Idaho.
During 2020, St. Vincent de Paul did more than ever to help neighbors in need, including receiving more than 92,000 visits at its food pantries. About 26,000 people received home visits and help with rent, utilities, and other financial aid.
Because of the generosity of its supporters, St. Vincent de Paul of Southwest Idaho launched a brand new mobile food pantry in 2021, serving many who, due to the pandemic or other reasons, may have had difficulty getting to the organization’s existing food pantries.
“Often these clients are single mothers, refugees, veterans, migrant laborers, and seniors, truly the most vulnerable members of our community,” said Grant Breidenbach, communications director.
Tickets for the event are $100 each. See svdpid. org/event to reserve a seat.
A highlight of the evening will be a drawing for the winners of two Subaru vehicles. One is a plasma yellow 2021 Crosstrek Sport valued at $33,678. The other is a magnetite gray 2021 Forester valued at $30,157.
“We are selling only 1,000 tickets, so your odds of going home with a brand new car are nearly unmatched by any other raffle,” Breidenbach said. “But the best part is that by purchasing a ticket, you donate money to fund St. Vincent de Paul’s mission of preventing homelessness throughout southwest Idaho. Your raffle ticket becomes food for a family who lost a job, rent assistance for a single mom dealing with a medical bill or a career opportunity for an individual leaving prison.”
Tickets for the raffle are also $100. Winners do not have to be present at the Summerfest event to win. For more information or to buy raffle tickets, go to svdpid.org/raffle.
