A happy day for Idaho

“Did you ever think you would see the day?” asks Christian Welp, legislative liaison for the Diocese of Boise. “The day when most abortions in Idaho have come to a complete halt? A day when Planned Parenthood’s parking lot was empty? Well today is the day! Let us rejoice and be glad!”

On late Wednesday, Aug. 24, federal District Court Judge Lynn Windmill temporarily blocked a portion of the so-called “Trigger Law,” keeping it enforceable except in emergency-room settings while the law plays out in court.

On Friday, Aug. 26, the rest of the Trigger Law, went into effect. “This means that no abortion can be performed in Idaho besides for two narrow exceptions and in the case of a medical emergency threatening the life of the mother,” Welp said. “And the effect is the picture above; an empty Planned Parenthood parking lot in Meridian.”
